The AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) was founded in 1929 by Dr Montessori. Central to its work is the supervision of teacher training in affiliated institutes.

Dr Montessori proposed that AMI would have two goals;
1. To further her life's work in its original integrity and completeness.
2. To guide its development and application in the interests of all children.
The Association of AMI Teachers (Ireland) AATI is the representitive association of AMI qualified teachers in Ireland. The AMI College in Dublin was the only such institute in Ireland, and it was involved in training teachers for over 60 years.
